Job History
The client had a kitchen with Jura grey limestone that was laid 12 years ago. They had just had a 65 mtr sun room built on to the kitchen and were keen to run the same stone through. The main problems were:
The stone would not be an exact match
The existing stone had been cut to the shape of the old doorway
There was electric underfloor heating under the existing floor.
Client Requirements
The customer required the following from the contractor
- To removed the shaped tiles around the old door way, with out damaging the under floor heating.
- Lay an uncoupling mat for the new limestone floor area.
- Once the installation is complete, all the existing tiles and new need to be cleaned and diamond polished to all be at the shine level of shine.
- Seal the floor to make water and stain repellent.
Tile Master Specification & Process
Firstly we removed the cut tiles, constantly checking the heating cables remained intact.
Next we laid an uncoupling mat to the new screeded floor and installed the new limestone.
Once the installation was complete we cleaned and diamond polished out all the scratches on the old floor. We then diamond polished the entire floor to achieve a consistent sheen and sealed with all in one water based.
The result was very satisfying and the customer was delighted.
Using Tile Master Honed Sealer we were able to seal the whole floor protecting against and water and oil spillages in the future, by using this sealer it also helped to make the natural colour of the stone really stand out without seeing any of the etching marks.
